Analysis
Produce plots that characterize
the temperature fields in the flames you study. Use this data to locate
the flame front and determine how this is dependent upon the experimental
parameters such as equivalence ratio and flow velocity.
Determine the
experimental conditions for soot formation and discuss how a diluent inert gas
alters this process. Can a flame temperature threshold be associated with
the soot formation process? If so, determine this threshold and discuss why
high or low temperatures are associated with soot formation.
The theoretical
adiabatic flame temperature for a stoichiometric methane flame in air
is 2200 K. Discuss why this is different from your measured values for the
pre-mixed and diffusion flames.
