Mechanical Properties

· A generic stress/strain curve for a ductile material is shown.
· The material behaves in an Elastic manner for the stress/strain range below (σy, εy) after which plastic deformation begins.
· Sample plastic deformation is uniform up to the ultimate tensile stress point (σTS, εTS) . In this stage:
Ai Li = A0L0 .
· Neck formation starts at M, and sample Fracture occurs at (σF, εF)
