Trip to Arusha/Tarangire/Ngorongoro Game Park

Thursday, 7/12 after class:
11 a.m. – Depart from Dar to Kilimanajaro by hired minibus
8 p.m. – Arrive at Arusha/check in at Joshmal Hotel, Arusha
7-8 a.m. – Breakfast
8-10 a.m. – Visit/tour/lecture at the Rwanda Genocide Tribunal at the Arusha International Conference Centre
10:00 a.m. – Travel by tour van to Tarangire Conservatory Area/National Game Park
- Safari and lunch at Tarangire
- Stop-over at Makuyuni market for Maasai jewelry/artifacts
3-6 p.m. – Travel to Karatu town (gate-town to Ngorongoro Game Park)
- Overnight camp at Karatu
Saturday, 7/14
6:30 a.m.–3 p.m. – Whole day safari at Ngorongoro Conservatory/National Game Park
- Visit Oldu Vai Gorge (first known human habitat)
- Stop-over at Maasai Manyatta villages within Ngorongoro/cultural performances
- Animal safari and picnic lunch at Ngongoro Crater Park
3–7 p.m. – Travel back to Arusha/sleep at Joshmal Hotel
Sunday, 7/15
8:30-11 a.m. – Breakfast/regular class at Joshmal hotel, Arusha
11 a.m.–1 p.m. – Visit with traditional Maasai village at Meserani
- Stop-over at cultural heritage site
1– 7 p.m. – Free time in Arusha city, guide available for city tour if needed
7:30–9 p.m. – Weekly test (Students can complete the test from their rooms/any hotel space on honor code.)
Monday, 7/16
8–10 a.m. – Regular class at Joshmal Hotel
10:15 a.m. – Checkout /travel back to Dar es Salaam
