Fourth International Workshop on Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flows

Fourth International Workshop on Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flows

Erice, Italy, September 30 - October 2, 2006

(Sponsored by the Ettore Majorano Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture)

Program is now available

Previous Workshops

Interactions amongst several members of our group over the last few years motivated us to meet for workshops at Princeton University in October of 2003 (Workshop 1), The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Trieste, Italy in November of 2004 (Workshop 2), and Chicago Illinois in November of 2005 (Workshop 3).

The proceedings of the Chicago meeting are available as two documents: a Summary by Ivan Marusic, and Notes on Session 1 by Sreeni.

Fourth Workshop

The Fourth Workshop will be held in Erice (Sicily), Italy, September 30 - October 2, 2006. Further information on Erice can be found at Erice information and More Erice information.

If you have received an invitation to attend, please register HERE.

The Program is available HERE.

The focus of the workshop will be discussion and positive participation from all delegates. The workshop aims to lead to a better understanding of high Reynolds number wall bounded flows, and a clearer sense of where, as a community, our future efforts should lie.

We will have four sessions, corresponding approximately to the topics of pipe flows (including the proposed CICLoPE project), roughness, organized motions and scaling issues. Following the spirit of the previous three workshops in Princeton, Trieste, and Chicago, some things we would like to emphasize are:

  • This is a workshop, not a symposium.
  • More time will be devoted to discussion than presentations, and the two need not be sequential.
  • Short prepared comments are encouraged, but please let the speaker know ahead of time if possible.
  • Preparing summaries of the session will be the responsibility of the Chair and Co-Chair.
  • You are encouraged to organize smaller discussion groups during coffee breaks, lunch, or after hours.
  • You are especially encouraged to explore future cooperative ventures.
  • More details of the workshop will follow as they are finalized.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Erice, with best regards from the Organizing Committee.
