Syllabus
Assignments / Evaluation:
In terms of the various components of language proficiency, assignments will be as follows:
speaking: extensive participation in each class session / periodic discussions one-on-one with the instructor on assigned topics
reading: daily reading assignments of at least 2-3 pages
writing: weekly "dialogue" journal entries with written feedback from the instructor / three essays of 1-2 pages / a final essay of 4 pages
listening: language lab comprehension tapes / a two-week intensive listening program with radio plays and TV shows and a film, if time allows

II (Chs. 10/11): February 28
III (Chs. 12/13): March 14
IV (Chs. 14/15): April 4
Due dates: Aufsatz I: February 21
Aufsatz II: March 11
Aufsatz III: April 14
Final portfolio: May 13 (Dean's Day)
Evaluation:
Class / lab / quizzes: 20%
Papers: 30%
Tests: 40%
Schlußprojekt: 10%
