The Interatomic Potential

· This curve is the sum of attractive and repulsive terms.

· The potential may be written in the form:

V(r) = - ( A/rn) + (B/rm)
where A and B are constants that depend on the bonding type. The first term is attractive and the second term repulsive. Also, m > n.
