The Global Seminars
In 2010, the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) will offer six Global Seminars: in Goa and Madurai, India (June 4–July 17); in Istanbul, Turkey, at Koç University, and Cairo, Egypt, at American University (June 12–July 24); in Hanoi, Vietnam, at Vietnam National University (June 13–July 24); in Shanghai and Xi’an, China, at Fudan University and Northwest University (June 20–July 31); in Accra, Ghana, and London, England, at Queen Mary, University of London (June 20–July 31); and in Seoul, South Korea, at Ewha Woman’s University (June 20–July 31).
Each seminar, open to 12–15 freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, is designed to provide students with new opportunities and incentives to explore the international dimensions of their academic interests. It is led by faculty who have created a unique program of study that can only be fully experienced by traveling to the city and country at the heart of its subject matter. Daily lectures by seminar faculty and guests, daily language classes, weekend excursions to sites relevant to the course, and community service make up the course prospectus.
Admission to the seminars is through an application and an interview.
