The Structure of Polymers

· The building blocks, shown opposite, for polymer crystals are very different from those of the low molecular weight materials.
· Polymeric materials have molecules with weights of a million or more and the organization of the individual molecules into a crystalline structure is difficult. Most solid polymers are only partly crystalline.
