Lawrence Apartments building evacuated due to odor of gas

Shortly before 10 a.m. the Princeton Fire Department responded to a report of the odor of gas at Lawrence Apartments. A resident in one of the buildings reported the odor to University staff, who notified the Fire Department after detecting gas levels. Four individuals were evacuated from the building. No injuries were reported. The Department of Public Safety, Site Protection and Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad also responded. 

PSE&G has been notified and is responding.

About 30 people were evacuated from Building 10 of the Lawrence Apartments for a little more than an hour this morning because gas leaked from a dryer. The leak was reported about 8:35 a.m. The leak was stopped and residents were allowed back inside about 9:45 a.m.

Small fire in McCormick Hall extinguished .

A small fire in an office on the third floor of McCormick Hall prompted the evacuation of about 15 people from the building at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4. The building houses the Princeton University Art Museum. The fire alarm was triggered by an area rug that made contact with a heating element. The small fire was extinguished by a museum security officer.

Construction site cleared after gas leak capped .

A backhoe struck a gas line at the Lakeside graduate housing construction site at about 8:06 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15. Construction workers in the area were evacuated. There were no injuries.

Fire extinguished at Princeton's Frist Campus Center .

Firefighters were called to the Frist Campus Center at Princeton University early Saturday morning, Feb. 24, and put out a fire in the basement.

UPDATE: Frick Lab reopened after temporary evacuation .

About 300 people were evacuated from the Frick Chemistry Laboratory today after a glass container in a storage cabinet broke and injured a postdoctoral researcher.

UPDATE: Small fire in Jadwin Hall extinguished .

A small fire on a heating element in the glassblower shop in Jadwin Hall prompted the evacuation of about 75 people from the building at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. The building was cleared for occupation shortly before 8 p.m.
