Research Interest:

Wang Zhan is interested in the global land surface hydrological cycle, particularly the water budget using land surface-atmosphere models and various sources of observations. Wang is pursuing the following research directions:

  • The use of data assimilation technique in numerical weather prediction and climate reanalysis and to explore the climate models by integrating satellite remote sensing data, field observation and spatial uncertainty analysis.
  • Analysis, evaluation and optimization of precipitation datasets, at global, regional and local scale. The focus lies on extreme flood events and drought periods.
