On Oct 16th, PUCEG Student-Seminar No. 1  took place in Frick Laboratory. As the kick-off event of 2013 PUCEG Annul Activities, this seminar made a great success. This is a brand new activity initiated by Yuan Hu and other PUCEG board members in 2013 fall, in which you can hear presentations  under one common energy-relevant topic from student speakers with diverse academic backgrounds.

The fun part of the seminar is the insights from speakers when they approach the same question from different angles in terms of their own fields, which makes the activity an excellent platform for intellectual exchange of perspectives transcending the boundaries of disciplines. In this Seminar No.1, the discussions were centered on “Renewable Energy”. Hao Chen shared his knowledge in Photovoltaic, as well as his outlook for the strategic development of China PV industry; Zhong Zheng presented a novel solution of resolving the technology selection dominated by scale in utilization of biomass by employing a mathematical model;  Wei Peng led the discussion in China’s Wind Industry, with the focus on the challenges  in the market and domestic policies for fostering the exploitation of Wind Power.

Around 20 members attended the seminar, and actively interacted with speakers in the Q&A sessions. The 2nd PUCEG Student Seminar is scheduled to December 2013, and we are confident that the next one will be even better.
