A list of the ANSYS elements recognised by this interface is given in Appendix
A. The FEMVIEW element types to which each ANSYS element is mapped
is also given. If an ANSYS element type is used that is not accepted by this
interface program a warning is issued. The element topology and any results
associated with the unknown element are then ignored.
By default each element in the model is allocated a group number by this program
according to the ANSYS element type. This allows the FEMVIEW user to identify or
select different ANSYS element types that were mapped to the same FEMVIEW element
type. For example, the 'SOLID73' element is given the group number 73, so issuing
the FEMVIEW command `LABEL MESH GROUPS 73' will label all SOLID73 elements
in the current subset of the model.
However the interface also allows the user to override this by setting the
FEMVIEW element group number to either the real constant reference number or the
material constant reference number for each element.
These may be selected by appending either '-realid' or '-matid'
respectively to the executable name. If both options are requested the -matid
option is ignored.
