Impact Testing
· The Impact testing apparatus shown permits the energy absorbed in a high strain-rate fracture of a material to be measured. The notched samples shown localize the maximum stress in the notch region.
· The energy absorbed is computed from the difference in height between the pre- and post-impact positions of the pendulum.
· Measurements may be made at different temperatures to explore the ductile to brittle transition behavior of the material.
