· Two effects are shown in the diagram: that of temperature and alloy composition on the high strain-rate mechanical behavior of carbon steels.
· For low carbon content there is a sharp change between ductile and brittle behavior at about - 60 C.
· For high carbon content, the ductile to brittle transition temperature moves to higher temperatures ( 0 to 150 C) and the overall ductility of the alloy decreases.
