The Republic of Turkey will be discussing a wide variety of issues that are not only pertinent to the Middle Eastern region, but also to Turkey 's relations with the international community. Out of the countries represented, Turkey has the unique position of being involved in issues with the Middle East while also being a connection to Europe, the United States , and many multilateral organizations.

Discussions in this committee will have to take into account Turkey 's interests in the Middle East as well as its intentions regarding relations with Europe and the United States . This includes examining Turkey 's position in the UN, NATO, the WTO, and very importantly, Turkey 's bid for EU membership.

Considering the region, especially important are Turkey 's interactions with the Middle East countries and organizations, considering Turkey 's relationship to the US . Take, for example, Turkey 's decision to continue to allow the US to use its Incirlik military base, but without having arrived at a decision regarding the US ' request for possible expanded use of the base. Particularly important to Turkey 's relations with the Middle East include the Kurdish issue, and how the Turkish Kurds will react to the sentiments and actions of the Iraqi Kurds. We will also be thoroughly discussing Turkey 's involvement with the Iraqi reconstruction.
