The University community mourns the loss of undergraduate Sophia Jones

Sophia Jones, 18, a member of the Class of 2027, died on Wednesday, Nov. 29, on campus.

Jones was from Chicago, Illinois, and attended high school at Red Cross Nordic United World College in Flekke, Norway. She was a member of Yeh College at Princeton. An engaged member of the University community, she danced with Princeton University Ballet and tutored middle school students as a fellow with Princeton’s Science Outreach.

Surviving family members include her parents Juliet Sorensen and Ben Jones, both members of the Class of 1995, brother Hugh Jones and sister Thea Jones.

The University has extended condolences to the family, and on Thursday, Nov. 30, hosted an opportunity for students to gather, reflect and support one another.
