Julie began dancing at
the age of four with Indiana University's Pre-College Dance Program and at the Bloomington Civic Ballet
Academy. She
spent a year training in Kyoto, Japan
at the Kamiya Michiko Ballet Institute where she
performed in the Kansai Ballet Festival. As a sophmore
in high school, she began training with the ballet majors in the Indiana
University Ballet Department under the tutelage of Violette
Verdy, Leslie Peck, Virginia and Jacques Cesbron, and Doricha Sales. For
her junior and senior year, she attended Walnut
Hill School
of the Arts in Massachusetts
on merit scholarship, training under Michael Owen, Samuel Kurkjian,
Leigh Spencer-Lucey, Kathy Kozul,
and Diane Arvanites-Noya. There, she performed the
role of Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker and performed new works at Lincoln Center
in New York.
Julie graduated with high honors and was the recipient of the Arnold C.
Taylor Award for Academic and Artistic Achievement. She has returned to the
school f or the past two summers as assistant to the director of the Summer
Dance Intensive and member of the faculty and choreographer for the Youth
Summer Program.
Here at Princeton, Julie continues to spend her days dancing.
She joined BodyHype first semester of her freshman year and now serves as President
of the company. She is also heavily involved in the Dance Department and
attended the Paul Taylor Winter Intensive. Bodyhype
has become a family for Julie and she would like to thank every member
and fan for all of their support!
