About Us

The Wilson College Council is a group composed of 19 sophomores and juniors (members of the Classes of 2011 and 2012) who work with the College administration to bring the best that Wilson College has to offer to you.

We meet weekly to discuss matters regarding Wilson College. If you would like to contact the Council, and are unsure of who to address, the Council email address is wilcounc@princeton.edu. We will forward your message to the appropriate person, or if applicable, someone will bring it up at the Council meeting.

Christine Bokman '11, Chair, Spring 2009

As Council Chair, I look forward to leading the Council and bringing about its fullest potential. I hope to make meetings efficient, provide more opportunities for Wilson students to get involved in the Wilson community, and foster Wilson College pride.

Hobbies/Interests: Guitar (acoustic and electric), pianissimo, spending time with my amigos, collection Pokémon cards, staring at Sudoku puzzles, camping out at Small World with the Journal

On Campus: Princeton Tory (writer), Healthy Minds peer advisor, Princeton Faith and Action, College Republicans

Interesting fact: I have a black belt in karate.

*Christine is currently enrolled in a study abroad program at Oxford for the Fall 2009 term.

Adjani Peralta '11, Chair, Fall 2009; Vice Chair, Spring 2009

I'm the Council Vice-Chair.  My position entails me doing whatever the College Council needs and helping out Christine, the Council Chair.

Hobbies/Interests: painting, long walks on the beach, TV, movies, reading

On Campus:  Manager of Art Studio, Special Projects Chair of Student Global Aid Campaign

Interesting fact: Over the summer, I lived in Bucharest, Romania working as in intern at Ovidiu Rom, an organization that tries to get children (Roma) into school.

Felicity Fu '12, Secretary

As Secretary, I keep contacts and organizational records for the Council, as well as contacting other campus clubs with which we work.

Hobbies/Interests: Theater

On Campus: International Festival, Asian Heritage Month

Interesting fact: I'm from Vancouver, Canada.

 

Rachel Park '12, Treasurer

As Treasurer, my job is pretty clear.

Hobbies/Interests: Running, hanging with friends, shopping, baking cookies, being spontaneous, flute (not so much anymore), going to the gym, reading, the pool/beach

On Campus: Cross county and track teams, Princeton Faith in Action, Athletes in Action

Interesting fact: Last summer (2008), I spent a month and a half in France. For the first half of my stay, I participated in an exchange trip with a high school in Tours, France. Then, I had an amazing internship in Paris's fashion industry with the sister company of Louis Vuitton (Celine).

 

Eliza Chang '12, Academic Co-Chair

My job as Academic Co-Chair is to supplement and encourage intellectual life in the College by bringing you academic programming like dinner talks and lectures.

Hobbies/Interests: Classical piano and voice, soccer, reading, Super Smash Bros.

Interesting fact: My middle name is J. Just J.

 

Wensheen Tong '12, Academic Co-Chair

Aside from being a helpful asset to the Council as a whole, I hope to harness some of the amazing talent and experience that exists in our Princeton faculty and organize some lectures and dinners where students can interact more with the great minds on campus. To make forming study groups easier, I'm also trying to form a system where people in large lecture classes (i.e. MAT 103, ECO 100/101, etc) will be able to access the rosters to find other Wilsonites.

On Campus: Princeton University Orchestra (violin), Princeton Microfinancing Club, Princeton Women in Business

Interesting fact: My brother and I have the same birthday, but we're three years apart.

 

Yang Cai '11, Arts Chair

As the Arts Chair, I will mainly serve as a liaison between Wilson College and student arts groups, support art projects from Wilson College students, and organize annual Wilson College art show. In addition, my particular goal this year is to get the Magic Club set in Wilson College.

Hobbies/Interests: I do translations for a few international NGOs in my free time.

On Campus: Princeton Figure Skating Club, Breakout Princeton

Interesting fact: I'm a movie-maniac and watch on average 4 movies a week.

 

Destiny Ortega '12, Civic Engagement Co-Chair

As Civic Engagement Co-Chair, I facilitate the planning and execution of our events that are held throughout the year.  We're planning some great events in hopes of encouraging our fellow Wilsonites to do service and be aware of the world outside the Orange Bubble.

Hobbies/Interests: eating in the brand-spanking-new Wilcox dining hall and singing along to Jonas Brothers songs (but not at the same time)

On Campus: Ballet Folklórico, Community Action leader, co-coordinator for the Luna mentoring program

Interesting fact: I LOVE cupcakes : )

 

Chenyu Zheng '12, Civic Engagement Co-Chair

As Civic Engagement Chair, my job is to provide Wilson students with many civic engagement opportunities on campus and in the surrounding community, and to foster a better understanding of service within Wilson College. My goals for this year include civic engagement panel discussions, a clothing drive or swap for this spring, and a week of service in the fall.

Hobbies/Interests: savoring all kinds of apples and nuts, painting, environmental action

On Campus: Greening Princeton, Princeton UNICEF, SVC soup kitchen

Interesting fact: I love food and reading food labels!

 

Diya Das '12, Communications Co-Chair

My job as Communications Co-Chair is to make sure that students know about the opportunities available through Wilson College, via the newsletter ("What's Up Wilson?") and the website.

Interests/Hobbies: Cogito.org, reading (especially science fiction and fantasy), listening to music (Last.fm), figure skating

On Campus: Wilson College Book Circle, Newsletter Committee (Freshman Class Committee)

Interesting fact: I was born in India, and am a Canadian citizen (only), despite having lived in the US for over ten years.

 

Briana Wilkins '12, Communications Co-Chair

The Communications Co-Chairs aim to promote the activities of the Wilson College Council through the newsletter and website. While Diya focuses mostly on design and layout, I write much of the content.

Hobbies/Interests: shopping, shoes, Philadelphia sports teams, tennis, Baker Rink, Panera, Halo Pub, and everything about Princeton.

On Campus: The Daily Princetonian’s business office, SVC TEACH, IM floor hockey, and Orange Key tour guide.

Interesting Fact: I’m from Greentown, PA, which is a rural town thirty minutes away from Scranton (thank you, Joe Biden, and The Office for making it easier to explain where I live!).

 

Raphael Murillo '12, Facilities Chair

The Facilities Chair acts as a liaison for students with the administration and the Council in matters relating to the facilities of Wilson College (e.g. rooms, Wilcox Dining Hall, as well as the facilities listed here). If you ever have any comments or suggestions relating to Wilson's facilities, please contact me.

Hobbies/Interests: history, ancient history, and foreign policy.

On Campus: Princeton Tory, Cena Latina, Princeton Evangelical Fellowship

Interesting fact: I first met one of my suitemates when I played against him on a television game show called "Quiz Kids" in my senior year of high school. For the record, my team won.

 

Aparajita (PJ) Das '12, International Chair

As International Chair, my job is to act as a liaison between the international students of Wilson College and the college.

Hobbies/Interests:

On Campus: Class of 2012 Government (Social Chair)

Interesting fact: I am an Indian national, but I went to high school in the Netherlands and I currently live in China.

 

Angel Aron Araiza '12, Intramural Chair

As IM Chair, I am the liaison between the University IM director and the Council. I organize the teams for Wilson College for the fall and spring semesters and keep Wilson students up-to-date on any events sponsored by Dillon Gym.

Hobbies/Interests: running, biking, dancing, traveling the world and meeting new people

On Campus: Ballet Folkorico, Accion Latina, Chicano Caucus

Interesting fact: I spent several weeks in the summer of 2009 biking across the United States with Bike and Build. I biked almost 4,000 miles across the country raising money and awareness for affordable housing. We had about 9 stops along the way where we helped organizations like Habitat for Humanity.

 

 

W. Kevin Zhu '12, Publicity Chair

As the Wilson College Council Publicity Chair for the upcoming year, I will be spreading news, announcements, and information to everyone via e-mail. In particular, I hope to publicize the study breaks, parties, and other events the council has planned throughout the year.

On Campus: Nassoons, Chapel Choir, Microfinance Organization, Entrepreneurship Club

Interesting fact: I am left-handed but right-footed.

 

Daniel Dix '12, Trips Co-Chair

As your Trips Co-Chair, I'm here to make sure you make the very most of the many activities Wilson College provides, as well as plan exciting activities for next semester. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Hobbies/Interests: I hope to major in the Woodrow Wilson School, but I also love technology, including tinkering with computers.

On Campus: Computer technician in the Office of the Registrar, USG IT Committee, Princeton Evangelical Fellowship, Princeton Ballroom Dance Team

Interesting fact: I'm an avid movie-watcher, and have quite a collection in my dorm, courtesy of the amazing Princeton Record Exchange.


Renee Hyde '12, Trips Co-Chair

My responsibility on the council is to help plan and facilitate Wilson trips, along with my co-chair, Daniel Dix. This year, I would like to have more diverse trips. in addition to the many art performances we traditionally attend, I would like to have more hands-on trips, for instance perhaps a camping trip or a day at a water park.

Hobbies/Interests: music, painting, stained glass, belly dancing, tennis, languages

On Campus: Princeton University Band, Greening Princeton, Ski Club, intramural sports

Interesting fact: I play 12 instruments.

 

Maya Le Gall '11, Upperclass Co-Chair

As Upperclass Co-Chair, I am responsible for helping to plan events that bring Upperclassmen that were in Wilson back to the college.

On Campus: International Relations Council (planning Princeton Model UN Conference), Princeton Mock Trial, RCA

Interesting fact: I spent the summer of 2009 interning on Capitol Hill.

 

Yin Liang '11, Upperclass Co-Chair

The Upperclass Co-Chair pledges to bring upperclass Wilsonites back to Wilson.

Hobbies/Interests: Japanese horror/crime novels

Interesting fact: My left hand is good with chopsticks, but not with spoons.

 

Sandra Thomas '11, Upperclass Co-Chair

As Upperclass Co-Chair, my goal is to organize cool events to give upperclassmen a chance to return to Wilson.

Hobbies/Interests: history, public policy, and education

On Campus: I am working on starting a chapter of Circle of Women (a not-for-profit dedicated to creating education opportunities for girls and women in developing countries) at Princeton.
