Evie Austell
Class of 2009
Evie caught the dancing bug at the early age of three. She began her training at the New Tampa Dance Theater and when the school formed a non-profit professional company, Dance Theater of Tampa, she was a founding member. With DTT, Evie danced leading roles in “Giselle,” “The Nutcracker,” and “Sleeping Beauty,” among others. However, not one to be labeled a bunhead, Evie always took the opportunity to explore other forms of dance. She tapped with Vincent Bingham, even originating roles in his “Chocolate Nutcracker,” as well as training in Limon technique and under many prominent jazz choreographers in the Tampa area. As she become older, she also worked with Paula Nunez at America’s Ballet School in Tampa, Florida where she danced with Mary Carmen Cotoya and Iliana Lopez of the Miami City Ballet.
After taking time off for an injury and arriving at Princeton, Evie joined Bodyhype in the fall of her freshman year. Besides providing her dancing and choreography skills, Evie also helps keep up the company’s reputation as a fashion forward group with her impressive shoe and purse collection, as well as her online shopping prowess. Dancing with the Hype made her first year of college amazing and she can hardly wait for the next three!
