2018 Veterans Day Observance

A Veterans Day observance is planned for 8:30 to 9 a.m., Monday, Nov. 12, in the Princeton University Chapel.

Lieutenant Colonel Spencer Reynolds Jr., Princeton University Class of 1992, will deliver remarks. LTC Reynolds is senior associate director of corporate engagement at Princeton, and is he also an Armor officer in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. In the National Guard he commands the 1st Battalion, 166th Regiment, training leadership and tactics to infantry and cavalry Soldiers from across the Army. He began his military career in Princeton ROTC, where he was cadet battalion commander and a Distinguished Military Graduate. His previous military assignments include tank platoon leader, battalion logistics officer, cavalry troop commander, cavalry squadron operations officer, and infantry division plans officer. He has deployed to Bosnia and Iraq.

The program will include an invited speaker (to be announced), an invocation by the Rev. Dr. Alison Boden, the University’s dean of religious life and of the chapel; the presentation of the colors by the Princeton University Army ROTC “Tiger” Battalion cadets; and the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful by Kenneth Grayson, supervisor in the University electric shop. Dr. Mary Rorro, psychiatrist for the Department of Veterans Affairs, will play a viola solo, and the program will conclude with a benediction and the playing of Taps.

The University and local communities are invited to attend the event, which is sponsored by the Offices of the Vice President for Campus Life, Religious Life, Human Resources, the Office of Community and Regional Affairs, the Princeton University Army ROTC, Rutgers-Princeton University Naval ROTC, Alumni and Friends of Princeton University ROTC, Military and Service Veterans Resource Group and the Princeton Student Veterans Organization.
