He is executive editor of Perspectives on Political Science and book review editor for Society magazine. A renowned expert on French political philosophy, his books also include the critically acclaimed Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: The Ascent from Ideology (Rowman & Littlefield, 2001), The Solzhenitsyn Reader (co-edited with Edward E. Ericson, Jr., Intercollegiate Studies Institute, 2009) and The Other Solzhenitsyn (St. Augustine’s, 2014). Gustav Niebuhr in the New York Times identified Rivers as the Bush administration’s point man on faith-based and community service. He has provided commentary for ABC (Prime Time, Nightline, and ABC Morning News), NBC, MSNBC (Hardball, Morning Joe), CBS (CBS Evening News, Sixty Minutes II), PBS (Charlie Rose, Bill Moyers Show), and Fox News (The O’Reilly Factor).
