Film Screening of "Inin Niwe: The Plant Healer" Presented by: Alexander Fish (Neuroscience, Princeton University) Film is partially in English and partially in Spanish, with subtitles throughout. Inin Niwe is a documentary film about the life and practice of Pedro Favaron. Pedro, a trained anthropologist and poet, met his wife, Chonun Bensho, while dieting the medicinal plants in the Yarinacocha region of Peru. The documentary tells the story of how Pedro became a healer and master of Ayahuasca ceremonies through the acceptance and teachings of Chonun's family. The film is an intimate display of how an ancient tradition continues to exist in a modern world. Alexander Fish studies neuroscience at Princeton with certificates in Latin American Studies and Cognitive Science. Joined by his Director of Photography, David Quateman, Alexander spent the spring of 2017 on a year off from Princeton working on film projects regarding alternative mental health treatments throughout South America. Through a series of lucky breaks and guidance from professors at Princeton, Alexander stumbled upon Pedro's story. Lunch will be provided.Free and open to the public.
