Jazz at Princeton University presents Maqam Master Hamid Al-Saadi.
The fusion of Iraqi heritage and American jazz is “hypnotic and utterly unique." (TimeOut Chicago) Hamid Al-Saadi is a master of Iraqi maqam, a centuries old Arabic traditional system of melodic modes. He is the only living performer who has mastered all of the compositions of the maqam repertoire.
