Cutting Edge Conversations: Virtual Panel on Elephant Research at Mpala Research Centre
The Mpala Research Centre will host a virtual panel discussion about new research published in Nature Sustainability on how elephants can reverse soil depletion caused by cattle. Panelists will discuss the implication of these findings for sustainability, as well as their approach to working in a multinational team and the unique aspects of working at Mpala following two decades of research. The discussion will be moderated by Dino Martins, executive director of the Mpala Research Centre and a visiting research scholar and lecturer in ecology and evolutionary biology at Princeton. The panelists include: Duncan Kimuyu, Mpala-Smithsonian Fellow, Department of Natural Resources, Karatina University, Kenya; Judith Sitters, Ecology and Biodiversity, Department Biology, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium; and Truman Young, Professor and Restoration Ecologist, University of California-Davis.
