Art Making | The Power of Strong Negative Space

The Art Museum is partnering with the Arts Council of Princeton to provide free online watercolor classes. Weekly classes are taught by artist-instructor Barbara DiLorenzo over Zoom. With an emphasis on color mixing and brushwork, each week’s lesson will be inspired by works in the Museum’s collections.
In drawing and painting, a composition can be improved by considering the negative space. In this class we will work on painting flowers, examining the difference between a solid clump of blossoms and a composition that allows for space between stems and leaves.

University programs and activities are open to all eligible participants without regard to identity or other protected characteristics. Sponsorship of an event does not constitute institutional endorsement of external speakers or views presented.
