Artist Performance: Dor Guez
In a photography-centered, multimedia practice, artist Dor Guez considers the role of art, architecture, photography, music, and monuments in shaping the identity of place. His art is a form of storytelling, and of narrating unwritten histories. During his lecture-performances, Guez shares historical photographs of the Christian Palestinian community from his family archive and from the past century of photography in Palestine and Israel, one of the most frequently photographed geographies in the history of the medium.
This interactive artist performance is hosted in conjunction with Colony / Dor Guez, an exhibition of photographs and video based on his research into the archives of the American Colony in Jerusalem, opening at Art@Bainbridge on Saturday, December 10.
