HMEI Faculty Seminar: “Weather Fluctuations, Migration and Inequality”
Filiz Garip, professor of sociology and public affairs, will present “Weather Fluctuations, Migration and Inequality” for the first talk in the spring 2022 HMEI Faculty Seminar Series.
Garip will discuss how weather fluctuations over the past 30 years have shaped human migration from Mexico to the United States. She will then explore the emergence of migration as a climate-adaptation strategy in developing countries, particularly for households with financial means.
