Janine Jansen, Violin & Denis Kozhukhin, Piano

So golden, so delicate, almost ethereal”
—The Times Ask any young violinist which professional artist they most revere, and they will most likely respond: Janine Jansen. Ask any violin aficionado, in fact, and they will say the same. This superstar Dutch violinist is in high demand by the world’s most prestigious venues, and at last she makes her Princeton University Concerts debut with Queen Elisabeth Competition laureate Denis Kozhukhin. This “grand duo” brings some of the most beloved works in the violin repertory—from the sunny lyricism of Schubert’s only full violin sonata through the symphonic virtuosity of Brahms, and culminating in the Mount Olympus of violin-piano repertoire: Beethoven’s tremendous “Kreutzer” sonata. An awe-inspiring program of music in the hands of awe-inspiring virtuosos presents an exhilarating launch of Princeton University Concerts’ 129th Concert Classics season.
