Please join the Student Friends of the Princeton University library for our third event of the semester, a tour of the Milberg Gallery's Spring Exhibit, "Through a Glass Darkly: Alchemy and the Ripley Scrolls 1400-1700," with exhibition curator Professor Jennifer Rampling.

This exhibit centers around the development of alchemy and alchemical imagery up to its golden age and includes the two Ripley Alchemical Scrolls, the second of which is a new Princeton University Library acquisition. There are only 23 Ripley Scrolls in existence, and these were critical in sharing alchemical knowledge in the 15th century onward, being studied by mathematicians, scientists, and philosophers such as Isaac Newton, John Dee, and Elias Ashmole. By examining alchemy's historical foundations and roles, this exhibit examines the legacy of these scrolls and their vivid images. To learn more about the exhibit, click here.

This tour will take place in Firestone Library's Milberg Gallery and the group will meet in the Firestone Lobby. Thirteen spots are available for this event for members of the Student Friends, and a waitlist will be enabled. The tour will be followed by an optional lunch in town from 12:15 - 1:45pm (RSVPs for lunch will be handled separately).
