Summer Film Series: Singin' in the Rain (1952)
This year’s outdoor film series features three of our favorite musical films from across the decades.
Singin’ in the Rain (1952)
102 minutes, G; directed by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly
This classic film is a spoof of the turmoil that afflicted the movie industry in the late 1920s, when movies went from silent to sound. When two silent movie stars' latest movie is made into a musical, a chorus girl is brought in to dub Lina Lamont's speaking and singing. Don Lockwood is on top of the world until Lina finds out. Rain date: Tuesday, July 12, in Butler Amphitheater.
