HMEI Faculty Seminar: “Carbon Utilization and Other Needed Technologies for the Transition to Net Zero”

Emily Carter, the Gerhard R. Andlinger Professor in Energy and the Environment, Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment, and Applied and Computational Mathematics, will present “Carbon Utilization and Other Needed Technologies for the Transition to Net Zero” in Guyot Hall, Room 10, and online via Zoom. Carter is the final speaker in the spring 2023 HMEI Faculty Seminar Series.

What happens if conventional carbon dioxide sequestration (CCS) isn’t broadly accepted by society? What happens if we reach an irreversible climate change tipping point? Solutions, with or without CCS, will include carbon dioxide utilization, carbon-emission-free electrification of everything possible, and solar radiation management. Professor Carter will speak to these issues and describe efforts she is leading for the National Academies and in her research within the Princeton University/national lab ecosystem to address them.
