America’s First Guru - Indian Monk Swami Vivekananda
America’s First Guru tells the story of how Vedanta, Yoga, and the deeper aspects of Indian Wisdom first entered the popular American conversation in 1893 with the arrival of Swami Vivekananda at the First Worlds Parliament of Religions in Chicago and how he went on to become America’s First Guru affecting the worlds of religion, spirituality, humanism, and culture in profound ways over the next 128 years. He preached universalism, interfaith understanding, pluralism, and the recognition of an inherent divinity in all humanity that we still celebrate and desperately need even more today.
