Festival Sabrosura
PLASA Sabrosura is an annual event that kicks off the Latine Heritage Month aimed at creating transparency, visibility, and recognition of Latines on campus and Latine culture. Originally recognized as Hispanic Heritage Month, Latine Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15 with the intention to create events that aim to recognize and celebrate the contributions, culture, and history of Latino Americans while educating people about the rich cultural traditions and history of these communities. PLASA Sabrosura is a celebratory event that introduces the various Latines dishes and customs while offering a space for Latines to pride themselves on their heritage and backgrounds. This year, PLASA Sabrosura will take place September 21, 2024 at North and South Wooten/1879 Courtyard from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
PLASA Sabrosura will open up with their annual “Celebrando Mi Bandera” at 12:15 PM, a march that will take everyone from Nassau Gates to Wooten Courtyard. The event also hosts the annual and well anticipated photoshoot “La Excelencia Latina” that captures Latines with their associated flags to display the diversity and beauty of Latines on campus. Food and drinks will be provided varying from countries such as Mexico, Haiti, Peru, Venezuela, Brazil & El Salvador. Please join us to recognize the beauty of Latines and their contributions. This event is open to the wider community.
Route for “Celebrando Mi Bandera March”: Start march at Nassau Gates, walk up to Nassau Hall (quick stop to take pictures at Nassau Hall), walk around Nassau Hall and walk through East Pyne into Firestone Plaza. Walk down past Theatre Intime and towards Prospect House. Go into Prospect Garden to take pictures with flags there. Go towards the south exit of Prospect Gardens towards Frist Campus Center. Walk up from Frist Campus Center into Wooten Courtyard.
To the organizations/Departments funding this event, we wish to take this space to express our gratitude for your generous support of the Latine community and for organizing funds and for your continued support for PLASA events. Your sponsorship has been invaluable in making our initiatives a success, and we deeply appreciate your commitment and collaboration.
