HMEI Career Seminar: "From Academia to Industry: One Scientist's Professional Path"
Dr. Kieran Bhatia, senior vice president, climate and sustainability lead at North America, Guy Carpenter, shares the story of his transformation from hurricane nerd to corporate nerd. Building on knowledge honed during his postdoctoral fellowship here at Princeton/GFDL, Dr. Bhatia has brought his academic expertise to a career in the global insurance industry, where he helps clients prepare for the risks of severe weather and climate change. In this talk Dr. Bhatia will discuss the challenges and opportunities of working in the business world, the essential skills for making this career switch, how he provides world-leading climate insights to clients in his current role, and the questions that keep researchers up at night.
