The Garba celebration, traditionally following the nine-day Hindu festival of Navratri, celebrates a vibrant mosaic of dance, culture, and community spirit, and is a time for the larger South Asian community to come together for a fun night of music, dancing, and food. However, it is not just a religious event but also extends its embrace beyond the contours of its religious and cultural origins to encompass the entirety of our diverse campus community. Utilizing the comprehensive reach of listserv emails, the event ensures accessibility and visibility among all campus constituents, from undergraduate students to faculty members, seeking to curate a rich, inclusive tapestry of participation and engagement. While Garba inherently resonates with the South Asian community through its vibrant music, enthralling dance, and culinary delights, the aim of the event transcends mere celebration, aspiring to weave threads of unity and mutual respect among varying student groups and disciplines.
