UPDATE: University closed for non-essential personnel, April 16

April 16, 2007 1 p.m.

The University is closed for all non-essential personnel today (Monday, April 16), as the state of New Jersey has declared a state of emergency due to heavy rainfall and flooding.

Essential employees are expected to report at their normal hours. The academic schedule is operating as normal.

Numerous state and local roads have been closed due to the weather conditions. A list of affected roads can be found on the state government website, and live traffic reports are available on the New Jersey Department of Transportation website.

With flooding and wind advisories still in effect, students, staff and faculty members are advised to check the Princeton home page for weather-related updates. Campus opening and closing information also is available on the University's weather emergency hotline, (609) 258-SNOW.

In addition, the University maintains an Emergency Preparedness website, which includes links to the Office of Human Resources' emergency weather policy and other emergency guidelines for the campus community (with flood and flash flood information from the Federal Emergency Management Agency).

The National Weather Service provides weather updates for central New Jersey on its website.
