FACULTY HONOR: Rexford and Schapire elected to National Academy of Engineering
Two Princeton University professors have been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, which honors significant contributions to engineering research and education. Jennifer Rexford, the Gordon Y.S. Wu Professor in Engineering and professor of computer science, was recognized for her contributions to the operational stability of large computer networks. Robert Schapire, the David M. Siegel '83 Professor in Computer Science, was elected for his contributions to machine learning through the invention and development of boosting algorithms. Rexford and Schapire were among 67 new members elected to the academy, which now includes 2,250 members and is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer.
