Introduction to QGIS
QGIS is an open-source GIS desktop software package. It has many features found in other desktop GIS software, runs on Linux/Unix, MacOS and Windows operating systems, and is available at no cost. Intended for anyone new to GIS technology, students will use QGIS on the Windows computers available in the classroom. The session will show how to load geospatial data, add on-line map services, extract selected data, and make simple maps. The training may also be useful to users of other desktop GIS software. Please note: this event will be provided through Zoom only. Students will use ArcGIS Pro installed on the Princeton Virtual Desktop.
This event is part of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) workshop series.
University programs and activities are open to all eligible participants without regard to identity or other protected characteristics. Sponsorship of an event does not constitute institutional endorsement of external speakers or views presented.
