Ah, Golden Hairs: Music by English Catholic Recusants
The New York-based period ensemble A Golden Wire will perform music by English Catholic Recusants — faithful witnesses who, during the Reformation, were forced to worship and create music in the privacy of their homes under threat of persecution. The art and music of the Recusants is rich in imagery and dense with harmonic beauty, reflecting themes of eternity and devotion to the Virgin Mary. The ensemble features three violas da gamba, harp, and organ, with guest artists Lucine Musaelian and Tommy Fields joining co-directors Parker Ramsay and Princeton faculty member Arnie Tanimoto. This international lineup of artists promises a performance not to be missed.
