Centering Joy and Wonder in the Climate Change Movement

The workshop runs 90 minutes. It's a mix of experiential activities, video, a couple readings, and time for questions and discussion.
In the workshop we explore:
• Why happiness has been in a consistent decline in the US (and many countries) since at least the 1940s, despite massive financial and material gains
• Why money accounts for only 2-4% of people’s happiness, and what factors really do matter to well-being
• How the levels of consumption in our society reflect a deep poverty, in particular the way we use work and money to try to fill the holes in our lives
Which opens to the following:
• The necessity of addressing the root causes of climate change and environmental destruction
• Why the work of Brené Brown (vulnerability), Thich Nhat Hanh (presence), and Rumi (joy and wonder) should be at the center of the climate change movement
• The vital opportunity for all of us to live much richer lives even while tackling climate change
