Making their Princeton University Concerts debuts, internationally acclaimed opera superstar Asmik Grigorian and pianist Lukas Geniušas—two of the most thrilling young artists on the global stage—invite audiences into the intimate, emotional world of Russian song. Crowned “Opera Singer of the Year” in 2025 at the International Opera Awards and hailed by The Guardian for her “velvet-wrapped steel” voice, the Lithuanian soprano has captivated audiences at leading opera houses from Salzburg to Berlin to the Metropolitan Opera with unforgettable portrayals of Madama Butterfly, Jenůfa, and Salome. Now, she turns her dramatic brilliance to what she calls “small pieces of opera in a few minutes”: the exquisite songs of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. Grigorian is joined by her frequent collaborator and compatriot, Lukas Geniušas—Silver Medalist at both the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition and 2010 International Chopin Competition—who also performs solo piano works interwoven with the song cycles. Together, they bring to life a world of longing, distance, and bittersweet dreams, transforming intimate emotion into unforgettable musical drama.
