Betrayal, one of Harold Pinter’s most acclaimed works, debuted in 1978. The play follows three characters: Robert, Emma, Robert’s wife, and Jerry, Robert’s university friend and Emma’s clandestine lover. Unfolding in reverse chronological order over the span of nearly a decade, the action starts at the end of Emma and Robert’s marriage in 1977 and traces back to the beginning of Emma and Jerry’s affair in 1968. Immersive staging invites audiences to watch alongside the characters and witness acts of deceit, unfulfilled dreams, and all-consuming passion.
Featuring Joe McLean ‘27, with direction and scenic design by Christie Davis ’27, this production also features Amalia Hartray ‘29 (lighting design), Ryan Gao (sound design), and the stage management by Ingrid Kary ’30 and Wanjiru Wanjau ‘27.
