Join us for conversation around the remedial force of Black theater against sites of systemic harm for the African diaspora. This event hopes to engage individuals of all backgrounds with works, practices, and innovations by contemporary Black artists in American and French theater. Attendees will be invited to contribute to a collaborative document to be included in theater senior Amira Adarkwah's ongoing archival project.

Snacks provided.

About Amira's Independent Project

This creative research project considers the challenges Black women face and overcome in the rehearsal and production of mainstream American theater, and investigates how collaborative theater can remedy such hurdles. Through documentation and newly created archive, the project celebrates Black women’s ingenuity in disrupting predominantly white spaces; facilitates discussion around themes, archetypes, and stereotypes pervasive in works authored by Black vs. non-Black writers; reflects these experiences making Black theater at Princeton and connects them to the broader landscape of Black American theater.

Amira Adarkwah will present this project in spring 2027.

Admission
