"Hearing Math" with Sandeep Das, Tabla
Conceptualized and produced by Grammy-winning tabla artist Sandeep Das, “Hearing Math” is a dynamic project exploring how to make mathematical concepts audible—and the math in music tangible—through a collaboration between Indian Classical Music and mathematics. In addition to the artistic and creative possibilities, the long-term goal of this initiative is to develop a learning and pedagogical mindset where STEM concepts and music are taught in tandem. This Princeton iteration of “Hearing Math” is presented jointly by Princeton University Concerts and the Princeton University Department of Mathematics. Instrumentalists from the Department’s faculty and students will join Das in the this lecture-demonstration, which will be free and open to the public.
