Princeton undergraduate Jaqueline Gonzalez dies in Chicago

Jaqueline Gonzalez, a member of the Class of 2025, died Feb. 1, 2023, at the Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She was 19 years old.

Gonzalez died of complications due to liver and kidney failure following a prolonged illness, her family said. She was on a leave of absence this semester to focus on her health.

A member of Forbes College, Gonzalez had not yet declared a major and was pursuing certificates in Korean language and culture and in materials science and engineering. She participated in several campus groups, including the Freshman Scholars Institute and Scholars Institute Fellows Program through the Emma Bloomberg Center for Access and Opportunity.

Gonzalez is survived by her mother, Maria Martinez, her father, Genaro Gonzalez, a sister, Daisy Gonzalez, and a brother, Giovani Gonzalez.

Princeton has extended condolences to the family and has hosted opportunities for students to gather and reflect.
