PWB renamed Princeton University Bulletin, moves to biweekly schedule

Aug. 31, 2009, 12:08 p.m.

As part of campuswide cost-savings efforts and sustainability initiatives, the University's official newspaper will begin a new biweekly publication schedule this fall and will be renamed the Princeton University Bulletin.

Formerly known as the Princeton Weekly Bulletin, the eight-page newspaper will be published every other week when classes are in session, beginning with the Sept. 13 issue, for a total of 15 issues during the academic year.

Reflecting this shift, the weekly calendar of events will be replaced by an expanded "Nassau notes" section that will provide highlights of selected upcoming events. Campus community members may use the online submission form to offer events for consideration for publication in the Bulletin as well as on the University homepage. Event sponsors also are encouraged to post their notices on the University's Public Events Calendar. The new "Nassau notes" section will feature a link to the Public Events Calendar as well as links to online calendars hosted by various University departments, programs and offices.

"While this transition responds to budgetary and sustainability concerns shared by the campus community, our mission with the Bulletin remains the same: to keep our readers up-to-date with news and events on campus while highlighting the excellence of Princeton University's faculty, staff and students," said Eric Quiñones, managing editor of the Bulletin. "At the same time, we recognize that more readers are turning to the Web for news and event information. We will make greater efforts to augment the stories and event notices in the Bulletin with helpful links to give readers access to even more information on the topics that most interest them."

Faculty and staff members, including retirees, will continue to receive the Bulletin at their homes free of charge, and copies will continue to be distributed around campus. A system to allow faculty and staff members to opt out of home delivery will be established by the fall.

The new rate for paid subscriptions to the Bulletin will be $20 for the academic year, or $15 for senior citizens and parents of Princeton students. A deadline schedule for the 2009-10 academic year is now available.
