Former Costa Rican Vice President Kevin Casas-Zamora will discuss "The Travails of Democratic Governance in Central America" at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in 16 Roberston Hall.

Edward Steinfeld, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and director of the MIT-China Program, will deliver a lecture titled "Playing Our Game: China's Rise and the West" at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in 2 McCosh Hall.

Conference to feature dialogue on abortion .

An unprecedented meeting for 450 people involved on all sides of the abortion debate will take place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 15-16, where ideas will be exchanged with 45 top scholars, lawyers and abortion policy experts and vigorous but civil discussion and debate will be engaged on the current controversies in abortion.

Conference explores 'Shades of Futurism' .

A conference marking the 100th anniversary of the publication of the Futurist Manifesto, which spawned the cultural Futurist movement in Italy, is planned for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10.

President of Tunisia spotlights 'experiment' of democracy in the Arab world .

In an address in Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University on Sept. 26, Mohamed Moncef Marzouki, president of the Republic of Tunisia, laid out the challenges that face an Arab nation as it struggles with a nascent democracy.
