Former White House adviser Van Jones will give a lecture titled "Beyond Green Jobs: The Next American Economy and The Politics of Hope" at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, in McCosh Hall, Room 50. The talk is free and open to the public.

Van Jones, former adviser at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, has been appointed distinguished visiting fellow in the Center for African American Studies and in the Program in Science, Technology and Environmental Policy at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.

University to celebrate King's legacy .

Princeton University will commemorate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with its annual King Day celebration Monday, Jan. 17, in Richardson Auditorium of Alexander Hall. Doors open at 1 p.m. The keynote address will be delivered by Van Jones, an environmental activist, social entrepreneur and former White House adviser who is a visiting fellow at Princeton.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke to give lecture Sept. 24--UPDATED .

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke will give a public lecture at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in Alexander Hall's Richardson Auditorium on the Princeton University campus. The event is free, but tickets are required for entry. UPDATE: Advance tickets are no longer available following the first two days of ticket distribution. There will be open admission for any unfilled seats shortly before the event begins on Sept. 24. Individuals without tickets who wish to attend the lecture are encouraged to wait in line outside Richardson Auditorium beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Founder of Slow Food movement Carlo Petrini will speak at Princeton, Oct. 10 .

The founder and president of the Slow Food movement, Carlo Petrini, will give a lecture on his new book, "Terra Madre: Forging a New Global Network of Sustainable Food Communities," at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 in McCosh Hall, Room 50, on the Princeton University campus.

Princeton celebrates Whitman College opening with lecture, dedication Sept. 26-27 .

The University plans to mark the opening of Whitman College with a public lecture by design architect Demetri Porphyrios Wednesday, Sept. 26, followed by a dedication ceremony for the campus community Thursday, Sept. 27. An open house is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 10, for members of the campus community interested in touring Whitman College .
