'Devising Theater With Youth'

In the "Devising Theater With Youth" course offered this semester, Princeton students are working with children in an on-campus after-school program to produce a play.

The Princeton University Program in Theater, in partnership with Community House and the Community-Based Learning Initiative, is offering the course "Devising Theater With Youth" this semester as part of a continuing effort to expose students to the broadest possible range of performance theory and practice. This course serves as an example of the Lewis Center for the Arts' commitment to encouraging undergraduates to think critically about the role of the arts in community and civic engagement.

'A Year in Review: 2012-13' .

The academic year at Princeton starts in the warmth of September as new and returning students come to campus full of aspirations. Over the next several months, the campus is a hive of activity, as students study, pursue extracurricular interests and build friendships. In June, under the shady trees in front of Nassau Hall, the year comes to a close as new graduates leave campus and head out into the world.

A platform and a tent in a very public place — near the Dinky station — make up the Princeton Student Colony, which has grown out a class being team-taught by artist and ecologist Fritz Haeg and architect Daniel Wood, visiting lecturers in the Lewis Center for the Arts and the Princeton Atelier. The site is "colonized" by the nine students who are making decisions about daily living as a group for the duration of the spring semester.

'How to Write a Song' .

"How to Write a Song" was a Princeton Atelier course at the Lewis Center for the Arts taught by Paul Muldoon and John Wesley Harding where students explored the art of songwriting and performed in public.
