Free tickets available to Princeton football game, fireworks

Free tickets to the Princeton University home opener football game Saturday evening, Sept. 27, against Davidson College and a post-game fireworks show remain available until noon Friday.

Anyone wishing to reserve up to six tickets must register for them at www.PrincetonFootballFireworks.com. Registrants will receive instructions on how to pick up tickets at Princeton Stadium on game day. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

The ticket giveaway is part of the University's annual Community and Staff Day beginning at 4:30 p.m. It includes a Family Fun Fest on the stadium concourse and Weaver Track featuring children's activities, music and food, as well as a youth sports clinic for children ages 5-13.

The event is sponsored by the Office of Community and Regional Affairs, the Department of Athletics, the Office of Human Resources and Campus Dining. University employees, their family members and residents in surrounding communities are invited.

Several local nonprofits and University departments set up booths with crafts, music, face painting, bounce houses and games throughout the stadium concourse. University student-athletes hosted a youth sports clinic — including baseball, basketball, crew, fencing, lacrosse, softball and track and field, among others — on Weaver Track next to the stadium.

Competing is 'transformative" for athletes at 2014 Special Olympics USA Games at Princeton .

Throughout this week, June 16-20, Princeton and several colleges, universities and private schools in Mercer County are hosting events for the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games — the first national games to be held in New Jersey. The University is hosting track and field events at Weaver Stadium and swimming at DeNunzio Pool.
